Sketching to Improve Projects

When I was young, I liked to draw and used to want to be an architect. I would draw just about anything, but I never thought I was any good at it, so I gave it up when I got my hands on a computer in the early 2000s. In early 2023, I started getting back into drawing and trying to improve at it. I watched some videos on drawing in Procreate to see if that would be an option as well, but I stuck to pencils and a sketchbook.

Recently, I stumbled upon some videos on social media of Industrial Designers drawing out designs. This has certainly piqued my interest and made me want to learn more about how to sketch out my ideas to get what’s in my head on paper so I can see it. I’ve also used Fusion 360 before to work out specifics, but I still struggle with what things should actually look like.

My goal for the rest of 2024 is to find ways to improve my sketching. I think having a specific project in mind will help, rather than the random drawings I did last year. Please let me know if you have any tips for improving! As I progress, I’ll share how things are coming along.
