I Love Movies
I have loved movies for as long as I can remember. For many years early in life, I pursued a career making movies. I started learning how to operate a camera for live events in middle school. Later, I started working on a crew for stage productions. In high school, I learned audio engineering and concert lighting. When I got my first computer, I began to dive into the world of editing and visual effects. I went to Georgia Tech to pursue a Computation Media degree, a joint degree between Liberal Arts and Computer Science. Although I changed to a Business Degree and went into corporate life, my love for movies has never changed.
It’s safe to say that movies have profoundly impacted my life. Even my favorite projects are inspired by movies. The Deadpool Headphone Stand is my favorite power carving project, and building Air2-D2 kicked off my quest to turn my garage into a Star Wars-themed workshop. My wife and I love watching movies together and talking about the plots and what we think about them.
I want to take this love to the next level, though. Soon, I will be incorporating movie reviews into my “daily” blog here. Since seeing movies in theaters is both time and cost-prohibitive, especially with two young kids, I may not get initial reviews out until a movie hits streaming services. Still, the first two I will review are actually in theaters when I am writing this. Fortunately, we had some time over Thanksgiving week to see a couple. I will also sprinkle in some of my favorite movies, including every Star Wars movie and likely most if not all, Marvel movies.
Let me know what you look for in a movie review and what you think could be missing from popular reviews. While I will not start investing a significant amount of time in movie reviews, I believe that it will help my writing skills and hopefully be something that you enjoy as well.
